Abstract
  • This project proposes that pastors can become agents of spiritual renewal by acting on guidance received from God through the practice of listening prayer. God does not speak only through Scripture. The ancient prayer form, Lectio Divina, is a structure within which pastors can learn to practice listening prayer. The project offers principles of discernment to protect pastors from error and deception in listening prayer. The project also presents practical guidelines for incorporating listening prayer into sermon preparation, counseling, spiritual guidance, and group leadership.
