Abstract
  • This project was designed to measure congregationally perceived changes of attitude and self-evaluation through the application of certain principles of group behavior, and to draw any appropriate inferences as those principles were applied in congregational administration. The pastor and session proposed a hypothesis which was that the establishment of a positive sense of self-worth, which would come about as a result of better self-understanding, agreement of purpose and setting of goals, would reverse the decline. The hypothesis was measured by surveys. Visible increased activity was noted as was a stronger financial picture, as well. The validity of the hypothesis was substantiated.
