Abstract
  • This project presents the outline of a series of structured retreats. These retreats were designed and implemented to enable in care students in the Connecticut Conference of the United Church of Christ to identify and critically evaluate familial and psychological factors which have both influenced their call to ministry and the development of a pastoral identity and contributed to their prospective effectiveness as pastors. The autobiographical and reflective data which has been shared by the participants has been organized around and is used to illustrate three significant thematic expressions of the nature and effect of those factors. The three themes are the influence of the multigenerational family and its dynamics, the interrelation of personalogy and theology and the role of designations and legacies.
