Abstract
  • This project shows that in order to be 'People of God', today's Christians must execute the original charge within present possibilities. An examination of Old Testament texts and commentators reveals that the meaning of the 'People of God' title remains the same in the Old and New Testament writings. The application is determined by time and environment. The charge 'to make God known to the peoples' also applies to the Hornsby Parish. Its members' response has to be bound to temporal, geographical and other material circumstances. This requires a change in organization, a promotion of small groups and a complementary network of small group leaders.
