Abstract
  • Church life has long been understood in the context of membership. This project proposes that this is a detrimental shift away from the church's mission of discipleship. The project seeks to investigate a healthy understanding of membership and explore how the church might faithfully engage new members of the church in a discipleship model of church life. The research was conducted with a participatory action research process by a group of representative members and non-members in a particular church. The conclusion of the research was to make a new member process about nurturing belonging to a community of discipleship.
