Abstract
  • This project examines church-based community organizations and specialized civic associations in three cities of the Catholic Diocese of Gary (Ind) as vehicles for the call and formation of lay ministers. Participant observations in interparish coordination efforts and ethnographic interviews of community leaders and organizers support recommendations for lay ministry formation programs and a vision statement that incorporates the biblical themes of community reconstruction, the reign of God, and the inclusive dimension of the church.
