Abstrakt

A developmental model for the years from 50 to 80 and beyond can enhance ministry to the aging. By conducting in-depth interviews with 26 octogenarians, this project finds evidence to suggest positive changes on the dimensions of awareness, acceptance and autonomy during four decade-periods: the functional fifties, the family-focused sixties, the transitional seventies and the transcendent eighties. It notes clinical pastoral implications and suggests further research.
