- Abstract
- The project's thesis was that this diverse urban congregation must turn increasingly to committed, well-trained and empowered lay leadership. The research focused on the culture of the congregation and the pivotal role it might play in an imagined future. By providing opportunities across cultures for participants to appreciate their lived experience of the Gospel, the project demonstrated the important role diversity can play in creating 'The Body of Christ.' The project demonstrated the value of a strong theological foundation for lay leaders and the challenges in moving from a staff-driven paradigm to a lay-driven, mutual ministry model of leadership.
