Abstract
  • The main thesis developed in this project is that churches go through several phases during their existence. What begins as a major mission to reach the pre-Christian in a particular community will at some point begin to shift in focus. What was once directed outward has now turned inward. This process happens so gradually that the shift is not perceived by church leaders. If this inward-looking phase is allowed to continue, at some point disintegration will begin to take place. Some type of intervention needs to take place for a course correction. There needs to be a re-introduction of evangelism into the life and mission of the congregation. That is the purpose of this project, to identify what that intervening course correction could and should be.
