  • The four relational areas of the pastor's life are vital to his success as a minister. These four areas are: his relationship to God, his family, his congregation, and his community. Several interviews with pastors of various churches, specific case histories, and historical data, publications, biographies, sermons, provided the substance of the research. Additional content was provided from the author's experiences of 18 years as a counselor, church planter, and pastoral training director. The research concludes that these areas need to be part of the curriculum in Bible colleges and seminaries where men are trained for professional ministry. Since the pastorate is the highest earthly calling for a man, he should at least be as well trained as a doctor, lawyer, or business man.
