Abstrakt

This report is an exploration of the popular term 'missional.' It examines the work of more than a dozen authors to understand their ideas of what missional is and holds those ideas up to the witness of Scripture. Next, this study explores what missional activity looks like in five mainline congregations through twenty-seven interviews with lay people and their pastors. Finally, this study seeks to draw out five critical components in the ministry of a congregation which can help release that church's missional imagination.
