Abstract
  • This project conducts an experiment involving 24 randomly chosen members of Zion Lutheran Church (Bismarck, ND) in order to determine the significance of listener comprehension of preaching of Law and Gospel as a factor in awareness of and motivation for participation in evangelistic mission. Participants hear six sermons and also study Law and Gospel distinctions in a formal class. As comprehension of Law and Gospel improves through class instruction, participants are better able to understand the sermons and develop increased awareness of their need to become involved in the imperatives of the Great Commission.
