- Abstract
- This empirical study surveys 194 presbytery executives of the Presbyterian Church (USA) for their attitudes and perceptions of the charismatic renewal and its impact upon both church members and the denomination. A theological examination of renewal and giftedness precedes a history of renewals since the Reformation. The origin, structure and development of the Presbyterian Church follow. The data obtained from the 140 returned research questionnaires reveal that the presbytery executives noted some good influences resulting from the charismatic renewal but found too many causes of concern for charismatics to be considered as a major resource for the church.
