- Abstract
- Certain United Methodist congregations in western North Carolina suffer from extraordinary conflict, trauma and mission loss. No specialized denominational resources currently exist to help these at-risk churches. This dissertation documents the conception and experimental use with a case congregation, of a 'pre-mission' parish consultation model along with the model's evaluation and proposed revisions. Furthermore this model is described here so as to make it available to other parish professionals for their critique, use and further development. The dissertation argues that the in-system consultation model works and is comparatively inexpensive.
