- Abstract
- This study examines the causes underlying the large-scale defection of new Christian converts among Chinese international students that occurs after their repatriation, and investigates a new ministry model, the returnee fellowship group (RFG), as a means of increasing retention. The primary goal of the study was to identify methods that are working to initiate and retain Chinese returnees in RFGs. Qualitative field research consisted of semi-structured interviews conducted in China with eighteen members of City A and City B RFGs. The study identified initiation pathways and factors that promote retention in RFGs and also suggested strategies to enhance growth.
