Abstract

The project evaluates the effect of providing church consultation in relation to the subject of overcoming growth barriers through an evangelistic Sunday school at New Hope Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Chapter 1 provides an overview of the project, definitions, limitations, and states the project goals. Chapter 2 provides the biblical and theological foundation for overcoming growth barriers. This chapter states that the Great Commission is the foundational mission statement for the church. Examples of evangelistic ministry and organizational principles from scripture are given in the chapter. Chapter 3 examines the contemporary views in church growth literature related to overcoming growth barriers. An evangelistic Sunday school is examined as a primary means to overcome growth barriers. Chapter 4 records the ministry process used in the project. It provides details in relation to the church consultation and training provided to the client. Chapter 5 provides the analysis of the impact of the church consultation. Recommendations for future consultations are provided.
