Abstract
  • This project proposes that strong and informed leadership is necessary when facing an antagonist in the church. Antagonists are defined as individuals whose intent is the de-stabilization of congregational life. Three case studies in which identified antagonists were active provides the fieldwork for the project. Family systems theory is employed as an aid in understanding the emotional dynamics at work in these congregations. This project develops and enhances the leadership perceptions and skills necessary to recognize, minister to, and limit the impact of antagonists in the local church.
