Abstract
  • This project explores aging from theological, psycho-social perspectives with consideration of the impact of incarnation, reconciliation, and eschatology on older adults. Project data comes from older adults interacting within separate groups who, differing by age, religious affiliation, health, cultural-ethnicity, gender, and education, met weekly for sixteen weeks sharing 'stories of aging' and responding to questionnaires and studies in aging. Participants' responses focus on the church's role in empowering older adults to create prophetic, serving, hopeful communities of peers. Programs include intergenerational, on-going groups to create meaningful rituals marking life events; gather life stories; and develop skill programs, support groups, and faith-sharing opportunities.
