Abstract
  • The author has created a set of exercises for use among rabbis or Jewish lay people seeking guidance or direction in a process of spiritual formation. For their theoretical inspiration, these spiritual exercises draw primarily on the classical exercises formulated by Ignatius of Loyola and on some of the recent efforts to transcribe them into a contemporary mode. The author has analyzed the historical, sociological, and theological contexts in which his work is situated. he has paid particular attention to the place of moral formation in a healthy process of Jewish spiritual formation.
