Abstract
  • If individualized small LCMS churches undergo a specialized and functional analytical consultation (a financially feasible pastoral visitation that would result in mutually agreed upon suggestions that are implemented), then each congregation should have a realistic opportunity to grow spiritually, evangelistically, relationally, and numerically. Many small LCMS churches are not growing in a variety of areas. The author researched helping churches by visiting eleven churches and giving them suggestions. He then revisited the churches three months later to evaluate growth. Eight churches grew in a variety of ways, two were stagnant, and one closed. The pastoral visitations were successful.
