Abstract
  • This project addresses the training of Baptist seminary students/church leaders in Penang, Malaysia, concerning the Holy Spirit, the Priesthood of believers, and spiritual gifts. The study has been especially selected to help pastors/leaders in growing churches and also in counterbalancing an increasingly strong charismatic influence in the Baptist congregations in the Penang area. This project will be conducted during a time frame of thirty-two hours of seminary-class training for the students of Penang Baptist Seminary and any leaders of Penang-area Baptist congregations who desire to enroll in the class. The thirty-two hours of class time will be delivered during a two-week period consisting of four hours a day, Tuesday through Friday of each week. The goals are that not only will the leaders become trained but that they will return to their respective congregations and lead similar classes/seminars. The lay members of the churches, therefore, will be more knowledgeable about these biblical teachings and less vulnerable to false teachings. The receptive churches will become stronger because members will be practicing their spiritual gifts.
