  • A Playful Church Worship Project During Advent in Conversation with Fred Rogers and Godly Play
Contributors
Abstract
  • Have churches forgotten how to play? Were churches ever really playful? Perhaps storytelling in worship and throughout the church can provide the permission slip we need to play. This project uses diverse methods of storytelling in congregational life to elicit wonder, curiosity, and imagination therefore cultivating a playful spirituality at Christian Temple Church (Disciples of Christ). This project discusses play and playfulness as that which elicits wonder, curiosity, and imagination. The Neighborhood of Fred Rogers is placed in conversation with the spiral curriculum of Jerome Berryman within Godly Play and an emphasis on storytelling is used during Advent.
