Abstract
  • The purpose of this practicum/project is to develop an administrative process by which a preschool ministry can be designed and implemented in a local church. The setting for this practicum is a 1200-member United Methodist Church in a county seat town of 25,000 in the Arkansas Delta. Using the structure as mandated by the Discipline of the United Methodist Church, a task force was formed and charged with creating the design and its implementation. The practicum was conducted over a six-month period with the task force meeting with the pastor for an extensive period of six weeks. The task force, using a shared praxis approach, dealt with issues related to faith development for both preschool children and adults. The practicum demonstrated that the administrative process can be a ministry as well as develop specific ministries for specified age groups.
