Abstrakt

The thesis examines the role of the Catholic priest in the pastoral preparation of a couple for remarriage. Recent literature raises questions about indissolubility and the nature of premarital counseling for second nuptials. Regarding indissolubility, the Catholic priest must be pastoral and ecclesial. Regarding pastoral preparation for second nuptials, the priest integrates a number of roles. Unique concerns in second nuptials are grief, guilt, building a new family, personal limitations of bride and groom, and spirituality in remarriage. All these issues were systematically treated in a manual, which was tested by workshops and critiqued by experts.
