- This project focused on the development of lay pastoral care teams through expository preaching. Chapter 1 helps the reader understand the context of the community and the characteristics of the church where this project was conducted. It also includes a listing of the goals to be achieved. Chapter 2 examines the biblical, theological, and historical issues relevant to lay ministry. Old and New Testament texts present the basis for lay ministry. The theological issues addressed are the priesthood of believers, the role of spiritual giftedness, and the dynamics of expository preaching. Examination of the historical scene goes from the New Testament gospels to the early fourth century. Chapter 3 focuses on the dynamics of team development and team work. Also included are four benefits of team ministry. Chapter 4 is the presentation of the project as it moved through the process of team selection, development, and training. Chapter 5 contains my personal expectations for and evaluation of the project. it also includes the ministry response plan as developed by the team.
