- Abstract
- This project proposes that Presbyterian congregations in New Zealand need to mine tradition, discern culture, and value faith experience--the way faith is expressed by a congregation--in order to make good decisions about worship. Tradition--the theology and history of worship--helps to insure that worship is Christian; attention to culture helps Christian worship to be hospitable. Drawing on Patrick R Keifert's Welcoming the Stranger, the project interviews leaders of five congregations and offers a study of the decision-making process in planning worship.
