Abstract
  • Vatican Council II dramatically changed worship for Roman Catholics. The bishops of the United States have issued guidelines for Catholic communities who plan to build worship spaces or renovate existing spaces, but no process for execution. The author researched three parishes that developed a process for building and created a series of workshops to help Catholic congregations to begin the process of building/renovation. Through reflection of Catholic identity, worship priorities, diocesan expectations and evangelization, Catholic communities can build a structure that is functional, meets the needs of the liturgy, satisfies the church's expectations, and is esthetically beautiful.
