  • Women need healing to overcome the alienation which is effected in their lives by the low self esteem they develop within a patriarchal tradition and a culture that undervalues 'feminine' qualities. This project describes programs offered at The Woman's Center of First United Methodist Church, Richardson, Texas. The programs include methods of self exploration and sharing that enable women to feel affirmed, accepted and connected to themselves, each other and God. Reflection reveals that techniques and ideas influenced by Jungian psychology, a participatory leadership style, and a warm homelike environment cooperatively enable transformation. Recommendations challenge churches to address the needs of women.
