Abstrakt

In Bejeweled pig snout: appropriate use of humor in preaching, the author offers an assessment of the compatibility of humor with modern preaching. Research includes an overview of Old and New Testament examples of humor; the various types, styles, and sources of humor; and a nonprofessional's look at how humor works. The work also includes a methodology for gauging the effectiveness of any particular piece of humor in a given setting, and a means of categorizing the four different types of humor and how each can best be implemented in sermon construction. A concept based seminar concludes the work.
