Abstract
  • The thesis of the project is that a fuller understanding of the doctrine of the priesthood of all believers will energize parishioners for discipleship in society and increase their appreciation for the word and sacrament ministry of the Church. To test the thesis a class of six sessions was taught which focused on the universal priesthood as well as vocation, affirmation of gifts, spiritual disciplines and the mutual consolation and conversation of the saints. In conclusion, the changed historical context of today, as well as apathy, ignorance, and limited endorsement by clergy limit the thesis. The key is more likely to lie in vocation, one's calling.
