This thesis-project sought to determine whether the chosen path to renewal for a declining mainline Protestant church was the best path; that being a combination of structural, management, administrative, and functional strategies, or whether a spiritual/theological focus might provide new opportunities for revival. The method of study is described by the dialogue between praxis-theory-praxis articulated by James D. Whitehead and Evelyn Eaton Whitehead.
