Abstract
  • This project affirms the importance of expository preaching and seeks to examine the functions of imagination in association with it for effective preaching in North American Chinese churches in a postmodern context. Chinese preachers need to uphold the value of expository preaching, and at the same time, endorse the use of imagination and be more image-sensitive. The proposed expository-imaginative approach, with an emphasis on first 'exegeting the Word' and then 'imagining the sermon,' serves to bridge the apparent gap between a didactic, logical, linear preaching and a postmodern, post-literate, multimedia culture.
