Abstract
  • Pastors need to be sensitive to the multifaceted dynamics of the divorce experience. Failure to grasp and appreciate these can create unnecessary barriers to meaningful ministry. This project chiefly used questionnaires to study attributes of divorced members and pastors and ascertain differences in perceptions and propose ways to build bridges to the divorced. Perceptions do differ as to the impact of internal and external factors influencing divorced decisions and actions. Successful ministry to the divorced must take into consideration these emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions. Bridges can be built and barriers overcome when these elements are properly understood.
