Abstract
  • Burnout, dropout, emotional drain, and spiritual fatigue have become synonymous with twentieth-century ministry. A pastor needs more than a 'day off,' he needs a 'Sabbath rest.' The goal of this project is to help ministers establish a practice of Sabbath rest which will enable them to thrive in ministry. Theological research, a prescribed Sabbath practice and interviews with pastors who have established such a practice indicate that adapting a Sabbath rest makes a considerable contribution to the lives of contemporary pastors.
