Abstract
  • China's political instability has resulted in a recent influx of Chinese immigrants to the United States--students, exchange scholars and businessmen who seek to reside permanently here instead of returning home. Furthermore, the number of descendants of early Chinese immigrants has markedly increased. This paper summarizes the history of these Chinese people and their struggles as immigrants because of differences in background and culture. It also examines the history of the Chinese Christian Churches in the United States, the challenges that they faced, the lessons to be learned from these challenges. It looks into the way that the 'Chinese Christian Churches of North America' has been able to survive and develop in a land where such extreme cultural differences exist.
