  • This project's goal was to create a model integrating pastoral counseling and spiritual direction for campus ministry. The author investigated the developmental theories of Erikson, Kohlberg, Gilligan, Fowler, Perry, and Parks. The theological/biblical background focused on biblical stories, incarnational presence, personal narrative, human sexuality, prayer, creation-centered spirituality, and process, liberation, and feminist theologies. As models of spiritual direction the author incorporated the work of Ignatius Loyola, Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross, Studzinski, Gratton, Fischer, and Kelsey. Models of psychotherapy and pastoral counseling included Jung, Rogers, Oden, and Jackson. The integrated model consists of characteristics and role of a guide, and subject matter of guide/seeker meeting.
