- Abstract
- Have other ideas superseded historic Zulu tribal beliefs or are the people still tradition-oriented? the issue is of importance to effective evangelism and church planting. This project investigates the question and attempts to apply some answers. Specific objectives are (1) to relate what the traditional worldview is, (2) to learn, by means of a polled sample, what some present-day Zulus say about their beliefs and (3) to suggest missionary methods that will communicate the gospel within the current Zulu frame of reference. Historical beliefs are enumerated and seen to form a cohesive pattern of thought. A questionnaire shows what Zulus say on such subjects as cosmogony, cosmology, traditional medicine, taboos, Christian doctrine and Zulu religion. Attention is given to the implications of the Zulu worldview for missions. Finally, suggestions are made for relating the gospel to the fundamental beliefs of the Zulu worldview.
