- This project centered on a workshop focused on living with our losses until we meet again; based on the Reformed doctrine of the priesthood of all believers. The hypotheses was that through appropriating tools and techniques from two secular theories - Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Therapy - people of hope, especially those who have lost a spouse of a number of years, could learn to live again, laugh again, and love again with the faith and hope that their separation is a temporary one, not a permanent one. The model was a blended pre-post Functional Change and Theological Appropriation of a Secular Theory approach. Though the ministry context could not provide a sufficient database to empirically validate the hypothesis, the participation of the widows and widowers interviewed prior to and after the workshop provided great insights for ministry to the bereaved and shared that their faith and hope was affected positively.
