Abstrait

This project used a multiple hypothesis survey investigating impact of combat experience in Vietnam on forty combatants who pursued a religious vocation subsequent to discharge from military service. The study examined combat experiences, vocational choices, depth relationships, and current ministry settings. Results showed strong relationship between encounters with death or shattering of values and decisions to enter ministry. Results showed strong relational stability and hearing of posttraumatic stress disorder. Results indicate failure of seminaries to assist incoming students in task of integrating combat experience and religious vocation. Results revealed pattern of vocational stability and connection to denominational structures among research subjects.
