Abstract
  • The purpose of this study was to discern what kind of man can plant a church that is likely to flourish. The review of literature and analysis of interviews with church planters focused on three key areas of planting churches that affect pastors: the church planter as a man, the church planter's message, and the church planter's mission. In the area of the church planter as a man, the findings revealed that the church planter must be biblically qualified and spiritually gifted. In the area of the church planter's message, the findings demonstrated that the church planter must preach the gospel from all of scripture. In the area of the church planter's mission, the study determined that the church planter must join the mission of God by incarnating the gospel in culturally understandable ways. The study concluded thtat it takes a qualified and gifted man, armed with a clear gospel message that he is able to contextualize for a lost world, in order for a church to be planted.
