  • The dual goal of this project was identification and outreach among the large number of childhood sexual abuse survivors serving as adults in Christian ministries. The author interviewed fourteen such survivors, male and female, according to an interview schedule designed for breaking silence and raising the issue to public consciousness. The data reveals that all participants in the project except one were sexually abused in their own childhood homes and most by multiple perpetrators, male and female. They share that a thoroughgoing healing demands the changing of abusive elements still socially approved in family, church, and Christian theologies.
