Abstract

The purpose of this project was to equip selected leaders of Lakeside Baptist Church, Birmingham, Alabama in necessary competencies for short-term mission teams. The project involved research into the necessary competencies for short-term missions teams. The research provided the body of knowledge to develop the curriculum to equip the selected leaders. The poject director enlisted volunteers who expressed a desire to lead short-term mission projects to participate in the training. The participants developed a proposed short-term mission project which will take place in the next two years based on the content of the training. Dr. Mike Edens and an international missionary evaluated the validity of the research. Dr. Sonia Carrington provided expert advice and a critique of the curriculum and the project director's increased knowledge of curriculum design. The project director increased his understanding of the necessary competencies for short-term mission teams as evaluated by Monte Erwin.
