Abstract
  • Textual variants appear in marginal notes to modern translations, and so the congregation is exposed to them. In addition to their value in text establishment, many variants offer exegetical possibilities which provide homiletical material. In this project, four passages with textual variants were considered. A complete textual discussion is followed by an exegesis. A sermon was then developed which incorporated the textual material. The sermons were preached and then the congregation filled out a questionnaire concerning their reaction to the use of textual variants in the sermon.
