- Abstract
- This final project report presents a strategy-planning model with the objective of planting a new church in the city of Belém, in the state of Pará, Brazil. The project director researched demographics, interviewed national pastors and international missionaries, studied cultural nuances, and accumulated other data in order to understand the cultural and religious context in which a new church would be planted. From this collected data, the project director developed a strategy that involved the usage of a team approach to planting a new church. The International Mission Board regional leadership for Brazil decided to delay any action on the strategy developed for this project because of logistical problems related to the fact that the region was in the midst of a major transition. The Eastern and Western South America Regions were joined to form the South American Region. The new region consisting of ten nations called for a realignment of leadership and a change in strategy.
