Abstract
  • The purpose of this project was to help a small group of members at First Southern Baptist Church of Phoenix embrace community ministries. The project consisted of five sessions. The project leader presented information that examined biblical foundations, community information, and models of other community ministries programs. A ministry opportunity was also offered as a learning experience in addition to the reading assignment of Real Hope in Chicago. As a result, the participants gained increased awareness of community needs as well as possible solutions. More importantly though, the participants gained a deeper appreciation for the residents of the community who may not look like the members at First Southern Baptist Church of Phoenix, but need a relationship with Jesus and the people within the church.
