Abstract
  • The basic presupposition of the project is that through the use of spiritual disciplines couples can draw closer to God and enhance their marriage. The goal is not to isolate the therapeutic benefits of the spiritual disciplines, but to grow in godliness. Doctoral classes and library research were combined to create an eight-session class which focused first on intimacy and spiritual intimacy. The remaining six sessions dealt with the spiritual disciplines of the Word, meditative prayer, simplicity, forgiveness, service and worship. Introducing couples to use the spiritual disciplines can enhance their relationship with God and each other.
