Abstract
  • The thesis of this project is that a uniquely Baptist expression of spirituality transcends more contemplative approaches, embracing such activistic and participatory elements as congregational singing, worship, group sharing and the like. The nature of the research was both literary and social, as the sources of Baptist spirituality were traced through church history and the emerging principles were applied within the program of a local church. The result of the research indicated that Baptist spirituality is indeed a blend of contemplative and activistic elements, which should inform efforts at spiritual enrichment in the local Baptist congregation.
