Abstract
  • This study was designed to develop, implement, and evaluate a counseling training program for pastors in the Western Pennsylvania District of the Church of the Brethren who were serving congregations without a seminary education. A questionnaire was designed to gather information regarding the pastors' experiences and needs in their counseling ministry. A learning design was created to address those needs. Twenty pastors enrolled in the fourteen, three-hour training sessions. The pastors' positive response and evaluation indicated a need for such training. It identified future training possibilities and concerns, and made recommendations regarding the training and credentialing of nonseminary educated pastors.
