Abstract
  • This project explored participants' early sibling experiences, current dynamics with co-workers, and theologies of ministry. A significant relationship among these three elements, previously overlooked in the psychological and pastoral care literature, was hypothesized. The psychoanalytic concept of transference and the theological use of metaphor were used to examine these connections. Taking a qualitative research approach, the author interviewed four female pastoral counselors. Data was analyzed using six themes of sibling/work relationships which emerged in the literature review. Results indicated that participants reported transferential and transformative associations between their experience as siblings and their relationships as co-workers.
