Abstract
  • New adult members of a congregation can be assimilated into the fellowship/community if they can identify their spiritual gift(s) and use those gifts in ministry with that congregation. Control and experimental groups were selected and pretested. The experimental group completed a spiritual gifts questionnaire, were given ministry opportunities, and both groups were posttested after twelve weeks. Assimilation did occur in the areas of belonging, social interaction and positive perceptions about the church. However, outside variables impacted the study.
